On Nov. 2, Peoria district voters in Glendale and Peoria can help PUSD students continue on the path of educational excellence, WITHOUT increasing their property tax rate.

State budget cuts have forced PUSD to slash $48 million over the last two years. Local funding through the override protects programs for our kids that state funding alone won’t provide.

Vote YES to prevent:

  • Increased class sizes at ALL levels
  • Elimination of PE, Music, Art, Gifted teachers for K-6 grades
  • High school sports fees more than tripled from $75 to $250
  • Elimination of Elementary Band
  • Closure of at least one elementary school
  • Cutbacks of counselors, librarians & nurses
  • Elimination of all PAL reading teachers

This is what $18 million annually in local override funding means to our students.

This is NOT A NEW TAX –  the override equates to about $12.50 a month for the average homeowner.  A small committment for a BIG impact!

THANK YOU VOTERS for passing Prop 100 — which prevents more extensive state funding cuts over the next three years. Prop 100 helped reduce state funding cuts to PUSD from a potential $37 million to $22 million in 2010-2011.

Peoria district has already cut these areas over the last several years:  transportation, maintenance, district office administration and utilities.  Full-day kindergarten, instructional and intervention specialists, classified staff and high school advisors have already been eliminated or reduced.
